The 37th ASIA PACIFIC DENTAL CONGRESS was successfully held in SINGAPORE on APril 2-5, 2015. It was hosted by the SINGAPORE Dental Association and a major activity of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation/Asia Pacific regional Organization(APDF/APRO). One of the major highlights of this Conference was the Opening Ceremony wherein the Guest of Honor and Speaker is no less than Singapore’s Secretary of Health, Dr. Gan. It was in this important event that DR. HERMOGENES P. VILLAREAL received from the Secretary General, Dr. Oliver Hennedige, the “LIST OF HONOUR AWARD”. This is the highest and the most prestigious award from APDF/APRO. This very rare Award is only given to a Past President of the APDF/APRO, who served in the council continuously for 3 consecutive years.
Dr. Hermogenes Villareal is a humble man of remarkable credentials. He was the President of the Asia Pacific Dental Congress in 2011, in the Philippines, where he put together a memorable Congress. Having been elected President of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation for the year 2011 and 2012, Dr. Villareal showcased the same expertise and competence evidenced in previously held positions – a former President of the Philippine Dental Association, 1992-1993, President of the Philippine College of Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgeons, 1988-1991 & President of the Pierre FAUCHARD Academy.
A Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, he was a recipient of the Outstanding Leader of The Dental Profession of the Century by the Philippine Dental Association in 2008. Moreover, he was honoured in 1998 with the Most Outstanding Professional award by the Philippine Regulations Commission. His alma mater, University of The East, conferred him the award, Most Outstanding Alumnus in 1998.
Looking into the future, Dr. Villareal, a past president of the International College of Dentists (ICD), was nominated and voted by the ICD International Council Members as a Master Fellow and currently is the International Councilor of the International College of Dentists, Philippines Section. He diligently shares his expertise and knowledge with his three children, with their own field of expertise, all of whom were graduates of Postgraduate Studies in New York University. Dr. Villareal is an achiever in his own right and a simple leader in dentistry with a big heart and utmost passion for his profession.
