33rd APDC 2011 Preparations on Final Stages

Dr. Hermogenes P. Villareal, Chair of the 33rd Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC) 2011 has announced that preparations for the forthcoming congress are now on their final stages. To be held May 1-6, 2011 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), the Congress promises to be the biggest gathering of dentists in the whole of the Asia Pacific Region and neighboring countries. It boasts of 30 confirmed top-notch foreign speakers and a whole day pre-Congress lecture on May 1, 2011 lecture by Dr. Jeffrey P. Okeson, a world renowned author of the 6th Edition of the “Management of Temporomandibular Disorders and Occlusion” published by C.V. Mosby Publishers and 220 other publications in the field of occlusion and oral pain.

The event will be the last APDC Congress in the Philippines with a repeat only after three decades. To date; 222 foreign and local dental exhibition booths have already been filled and fun-filled social events and exciting tours of the country’s scenic spots have been lined up.

The Organizing Committee headed by Dr. Villareal who is extensively promoting the Congress to the world through his attendance in similar events for the last two years, among which were: the 31st APDC in Hongkong, May 7-11, 2009, FDI World Dental Congress, Singapore, Sept. 2-5, 2009; Annual American Dental Association Convention (ADA), Hawaii, Sept. 25-28, 2009; 32nd APDC, Colombo, Sri Lanka, May 12-16, 2010; 67th MDA AGM/FDI World Dental Congress, Malaysia, June 16-20, 2010; International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), Hamburg, Germany, Aug. 25-28, 2010; and FDI Annual World Dental Congress, Santiago Brazil, Sept. 2-5, 2010 with 10,000 delegates representing 115 countries. In between the dental congress sched, on Sept. 4, Dr. Villareal, together Drs. Diampo Lim, Primo Gonzales, Leticia Santos and PDA president Marisa Brual, hosted the Philippine lunch during which they made a successful pitch for the APDC 2011 event and the Philippines as a world-class venue for international conferences with the top brass of the FDI and APDF in attendance.

Dr. Villareal, who is also the president-elect of the Asia Pacific Dental Association and affiliate member of the FDI, represented the country as the only Ambassador of the ICOI in the Philippines and attended the Chairman’s Meeting of the Asia Pacific Section. FDI is composed of 200 National Dental Associations (including the Philippines) and specialist groups, altogether representing more than one million dentists worldwide.
