SHERWIN JOSE VILLAREAL, D.M.D., F.I.C.O.I., AF.P.A.I.D.

Dr. Sherwin Jose Villareal is one of only four Filipinos in the Philippines who successfully obtained his fellowship program in Oral Implantology from New York University for two (2) and a half years in the Ashman Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology, New York, New York, USA. New York University (NYU) possesses that sole reputation of having one of the most extensive, if not the most hands-on training program in Oral Implantology in the United States. Being spear-headed by the world leaders in the advances of Oral Implantology and research with the likes of Dr. Dennis Tarnow, Dr. Stuart Froum, Dr. Nicolas Elian and Dr. Sang-Choon Cho, NYU makes it a point that her graduates are highly equipped with advance clinical knowledge and digital dexterity in delivering predictable results meeting the patient’s needs.

During Dr. Sherwin’s fellowship training he also received Honors in research. Aside from being immersed in extensive clinical practice, he devotes his time lecturing and imparting his knowledge in different symposia both internationally and locally. To name a few were the Greater New York Dental Meetings in New York and the Academy of Osseointegration in San Antonio, Texas and Boston, Massachusetts, USA. In the Philippines he is part of the Unillab Speakers roster, wherein he has lectured in 14 or so provinces. He was part of the Scientific Symposium of the Philippine Academy of Implant Dentistry (PAID) at the Hyatt Casino Hotel, held last January 11, 2009, where he lectures with the 3 world renowned international speakers. His most recent lecture was in Asian Hospital and Medical Center held last July 31, 2010 wherein he was surgeon/lecturer in a Multiple Live Surgery on Intraosseus Dental Implants which was done in cooperation with the Philippine Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Ranked 6th Place in the December 2005 Dental Board Examination of the Philippine Regulation Commission, a Gold Medal Awardee as Most Distinguished Graduate of the University of the East College of Dentistry for batch 2005. Dr. Sherwin excelled both clinically and theoretically during his undergraduate years. He was also a consistent dean’s lister and college scholar. Recently, he was awarded as “The Most Outstanding Baby Rotarian of the Rotary year 2009 – 2010” by the Rotary Club of Pasay. He is also a Fellow of the International College of Oral Implantologists; Associate Fellow of the Philippine Academy of Implant Dentistry and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club. Dr. Sherwin is also the current Scientific Chairman of the 102nd PDA Annual Convention which will be held on October 19 – 24, 2010 at the SMX Convention Center.

Currently, he holds office at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center as an Accredited Oral Implant Specialist and head of the Oral Implantology Department; and at their newly opened state of the art clinic at St. Luke’s Medical Center Bonifacio Global City with his father and sister.
